One of the luxuries that our cats have at Happy Cats is the time to form bonds with another cat.
As most cat people know, matching up cats can be tricky. To be fair, we ask a lot of our cats. It’s a little like dropping by your local homeless shelter, picking up (someone you think is) the nicest person there, bringing them home and telling your spouse or child that they have to live with them for the rest of their lives, sight unseen. It’s no wonder some cats are less than enthused.
That’s why it’s so nice to see friendships develop between our cats. Tutt probably hadn’t had good experiences with other cats in his life. He came to us a little low, head down and hanging back, afraid someone was going to strike out at him. Though he quickly realized we were his friends, he wasn’t so sure about other cats.
Then came Dotdot. She’s a very outgoing and sweet kitten of about 6 months. She’s like Will Rogers, never met a cat she didn’t like. She wouldn’t take no for an answer and just kept showing him how adorable she is. Notice the crossed tails in the above picture!
She won him over. So much so that when we took her away for a few hours to our little adoption fair, he sunk into a funk. She had to do some sweet talking when she got back to get him back to his old self.
We always encourage our cats and/or kittens to be adopted in pairs and always offer a discount on the second one. We hope these friends can stay together!
