Please join us on Tuesday, July 18th at 11 am for our official Groundbreaking–er, Groundscooping–for the new building, Planet Happy Cat!
It’s at 327 Manitou Avenue in Manitou Springs (just 2 blocks west of the first Manitou exit) with plenty of parking in our lot and on the street. Come view detailed plans and have a tour of the building so far.
We have already prepared the foundation and dismantled the interior by sorting, salvaging and recycling materials for a very green start. The next step is plan approval from Colorado Springs Regional Building Department, so we’re on our way!
You can see the new building will turn an ugly duckling into many Happy Cats, beautifying while integrating into the community. Planet Happy Cat will allow us to eventually double the number of cats we can save. Even more comfy colony rooms will have their own outside catios, with dedicated rooms for seniors and singles. Two attached apartments will sustain the building into the future by controlling rent , with a beautiful purrflection garden area for visitors and staff. Rent costs will be controlled with the help of two apartments for cat lovers and a beautiful Purrflection Garden will offer refuge for our community as well as our staff and volunteers.
There are many opportunities to help us make this a reality, from naming major wings and rooms to sponsoring colonies or catios to memorializing your loved one with a plaque or planting in the garden or gifting your favorite cat lover with a commemorative Happy Whiskers Bowl.
Our goal is $375,000 and we have already raised $140,000 toward that, so you can rest assured that every donation will help make this dream a reality.
