Well hi there, I’m Dora. I’m a petite buff lady with white socks and bib, and pretty green eyes. I came here when I was given to one of Happy Cats’ partner vets because my people didn’t want me any more. They had mistreated me my whole life, so I came here to find a fresh start.
At 11 years old, I’m just approaching my golden years, so I should have a lot of life ahead of me with the right care. Because of my earlier trauma, I start out being very wary of people. Once I realize you’re going to be nice to me, though, I can turn on the purrs with the best of them. Even though I’m a senior, I love to play like any whippersnapper as long as the toy is not scary, like a quiet string on a stick or a stick under the rug.
My circle of safety is very small, starting with my little cube house that comes with me. I started off like a little turtle, not able to leave my shell, but now I can come out with the people I love for playtime and pets. You can see that I love catnip, rolling and playing with my catnip toys, so that’s one of the best ways to win me over!
I will need a very quiet and stable home to bring out my best. We think that time will heal my emotional wounds, along with a someone who is kind and very patient, proving to me that not all people are mean. I would be the perfect cat for someone who lives in a small space, to allow me to emerge from my shell at my own pace. I will do best in a home without children or other pets, to build up my confidence in quiet and safety.
I’m a TLC senior, so I can be adopted for $60, which includes my virus testing, spay, microchip, vaccinations, food & litter starter kit and a free vet visit. My adoption also comes with the Love Knows No Age support, which includes up to $1000 in free medical care with one of our partner vets for my first year. Also, through November, my adoption fee is half off to celebrate Adopt a Senior Cat Month! If you have the patience and love to help bring out the loving little kitty I know I can be, won’t you come meet me?
You can click here to download an Adoption Application for me, fill it out and send to adopthch@gmail.com. Someone should get back to you within 48 hours after you send it in. If you’d like to contact someone more quickly, please call Happy Cats at 719-362-4600.
